Q: Do I need to bring anything with me?
A: You will need to bring your method of payment (cash, check, or credit card) and any clothes that you would like to change into.
Q: Do I have to fully disrobe?
A: Definitely not. We want you to feel as comfortable as possible during your massage. We encourage you to undress to your comfort level whether that means remaining fully clothed, completely undressing, or anywhere in between. You will be modestly draped with a sheet throughout the massage; only uncovering the area of the body we are working on.
Q: Why do I need to drink more water after a massage?
A: A massage is like exercising your muscles. After a good work out it is important to hydrate and allow your body to recover. The water helps to flush out what is termed “toxins” which if left in the body result in muscle soreness post massage.
Q: How often should I get a massage?
A: The only person who knows if you need a massage is you. After getting a massage you should pay attention to how you feel. When you feel the affects of the massage wear off you may want to schedule your next appointment. Many people have found that if they make it a habit of getting massage they feel better overall and use it as a preventative to stress induced problems.
Q: What are knots and how do I prevent myself from getting them?
A: There is a lot of debate as to what a knot in the muscle is exactly. The side that we mostly agree with is that when we activate our muscles we use a certain amount of calcium. Sometimes the muscles do not use up all the calcium that is sent to that area and it is this calcium that makes the muscles tight and painful. However regardless of the actual science behind a knot, everyone is in agreeance that massage helps with treatment and prevention. Knots are often associated with stress, repetitive motion (using a mouse, standing and cutting hair, at a cash register, etc), and a sedentary lifestyle (this can include desk jobs). To prevent knots we recommend a lot of stretching, exercising, drinking plenty of water, and getting a MASSAGE.
Q: What is the procedure for cancellations?
A: When a client arrives late (within 15 minutes of scheduled appointment) the session is still ended at the scheduled time and the client will be charged the full price. If you wish to change or cancel an appointment we require a minimum 48-hour advance notice. Anything less will result in a $25 fee charged to your account. Whether you attend or not it costs us money to make appointments available to you (for staff wages, etc.). We do not make money with this charge; the fee is to act as a deterrent from making last minute changes. Advance notice allows us time to reserve an appointment for someone else.
Q: What are your policies?
A: See Client Policy Statement.
