Georgette Linnea Hale Walker
May 1, 1978 - April 22, 2015

Georgette Linnea Hale was born May 1, 1978 in Sanger, California to Dave and Vickie Hale, the 5th of what would be 8 children.  Proudly she boasted that she was exactly in the middle with 7 years between her and the oldest and 7 years between her and the youngest.  Georgie, as her mother fondly nicknamed her, was quite an active child playing softball, soccer, dancing and cheer leading for her brothers’ sports teams.  Her competitive drive came from trying to keep up with her 3 older brothers: David, Seann, and Nathan.  Her softer side came from trailing behind her older sister Sharlene and wanting to be involved with anything and everything she did.  Georgie was extremely excited to be a big sister to Danell, Marcus, and Donna.  She cherished the short 6 months she had with her baby brother Marcus; where her nurturing side began to develop.  Her mother said of Georgie: “She was happy all the time.”

When she reached school age, she thought it was fun when people thought that she and Nathan were twins and as she got older that people confused her with Danell.  Family, school, and church were integral parts of her life growing up.  She was always a hard worker, outgoing, and driven.  These characteristics allowed her to achieve many things in high school such as participating in high school basketball, softball, volleyball, track, and choir, making the honor roll, taking advanced academic classes, receiving her Young Women’s Award, spending 8 years at girl’s camp, and graduating from seminary.  At church meetings and activities she was often found with Kara Hunter and at school activities she was always with Shannon Graham.  In 1996, when Georgie did not get accepted initially into the only college she wanted to attend, a teacher made a phone call on her behalf.  Because of her achievements and her personality she earned a spot at BYU.

George, as she introduced herself, excelled socially and enjoyed the many opportunities being at BYU afforded her.  She was the resident assistant at Deseret Towers S-Hall 5th floor for 2 of her 4 years at BYU.  She served as Sunday School teacher, visiting teacher, and as the stake Teaching No Greater Call teacher.  She became a member of the Great 8, a life-long group of friends.  During her Junior year of college, George got sick and lost a lot of weight, enough that her best friend August Quaife was asked to confirm these circumstances.  It was out of this sickness that she gained the voracious appetite she would become known for throughout the remainder of her life.  In the year 2000, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Family Science.

Gette, as her best friend August called her, attended massage school at Utah College of Massage Therapy in 2001.  With August, she started a business that would support them for over a decade.  She was a very gifted and caring massage therapist.  And many of her clients would claim her as friend.  Together, as they were normally, they lived in 8 different apartments (including the condo they bought in 2005) and attended 7 different LDS wards.  Gette would gain a new family in her friendship with August.  In these various places she had many roommates and friends that influenced her life.   Even though she had not yet been blessed with an eternal companion, she chose to live a full single life traveling from coast to coast to spend time with family and friends.  She ran in several 5K and 10K races.  She also ran a ½ marathon, rode in a century bike ride, and completed a triathlon.  She graduated from institute, played volleyball, basketball, and softball in formal and informal settings.  She always had projects she was working on: quilts, cross stitches, home movies, and finish work in her condo to name a few.  Friends and family were always welcomed into her home and she was often found watching movies, listening to music, singing, dancing, or doing hair and nails.

When Gordon Walker asked her out she found a reason each time not to go on another date from his age to their common ancestor to the fact that he didn’t like games or dressing up.  After each date August and Kaylyn Ellis, her other roommate, discussed with her that if she could not come up with more legit reasons she probably should go out with him again.  By date 4, she came home and told August that she was getting married.  Georgette and Gordon were married in the Provo, Utah LDS temple on November 13th, 2010.  At this time she gained yet another family that loved her dearly, the Mel Walker family.  She moved to Clearfield where Gordon was living and working at the time.  She held many leadership positions in her new ward including: Primary and Young Women’s President, Young Women’s Camp Director.  Although she was a bit skeptical about being so far away from those she had known for so long, she assimilated well with her giving and nurturing personality.  She mentored the Young Women and made friends with people like Shiloh Stradley and nurtured old friendships like Rossy Martinez.

Georgette was very anxious to bring children into the world since she was getting a late start.  Motherhood was something she had hoped and planned for most of her life.  She was ecstatic for the birth of their first child, Mark on February 28th, 2013 and could not bear to be apart from him.  In the 25 months she had with him they hiked, camped, golfed, swam, etc.  She was overjoyed to give birth to a little girl, Kendra on October 11, 2014 and because of her love for her children, she was already planning for a third child.  In January 2015 when she was first diagnosed with anaplastic astrocytoma, an aggressive fast-acting brain cancer, her first thoughts were of her children and she told Gordon that the children’s needs were to come first over her needs.  She endured surgery in February to remove the tumor on her left frontal lobe and lost her ability to speak, move her right arm, and move the right side of her face.  She fought back gaining some broken speech and movement in her shoulder during her stay in rehab.  She started chemo and radiation immediately after leaving the hospital.  Although her spirits were high, she did feel the gravity of all of this.  Georgette was an amazing person who loved life, our Heavenly Father, and her family.  She was a very attentive and loving mother who could not bear not being involved with her children.  She felt very blessed to be married and to bring 2 beautiful children into the world.
